On the occasion of Romania’s National Day and the Day of the National Council of the Romanian National Minority, the traditional annual concert was held at the “Sterija” National Theatre in Vršac, this year under the title „Tricolor în armonii bănățene”. The event is organized each year by the National Council of the Romanian National Minority.
The celebration of December 1 gathered officials, representatives of local institutions and the Romanian cultural community, members of Romania’s diplomatic corps, teachers, clergy, entrepreneurs, and many admirers of Romanian traditions from Banat.
The program opened with the national anthems of Serbia and Romania, followed by a performance of the Orchestra of the National Romanian Council, which presented a selection of traditional melodies.
The President of CNMNR, Dr. Valentin Ardelean, addressed the audience, highlighting the significance of national identity and the role of the Council in preserving the language, culture, and traditions of Romanians in Serbia.
Her Excellency Silvia Davidoiu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Serbia, congratulated the Romanian community for safeguarding its cultural and spiritual heritage, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and responsibility toward future generations.
The Vicar of the “Dacia Felix” Diocese, Rev. Dr. Emanuel Tăpălagă, conveyed the blessing of His Grace Bishop Ieronim, highlighting the role of faith and Romanian traditions as elements of continuity and unity for the Romanian community in Vojvodina.
The Mayor of Vršac, Dragana Mitrović, noted the importance of the Romanian community’s contribution to the cultural life of the city, emphasizing that Romanian identity represents a “vibrant and precious thread” in Vršac’s multicultural development.
Numerous vocal soloists and instrumentalists from Banat performed throughout the evening, accompanied by the CNMNR Folk Music Orchestra conducted by Prof. Alexandru Frianț. The “Carmina Felix” Children’s Choir offered a special moment with their interpretation of Romanian carols and traditional songs.
The concert concluded with the pieces “The Ballad of Avram Iancu” and “We Are Romanians”, marking a memorable evening dedicated to the identity, culture, and unity of Romanians from Banat.
